A Breath of Fresh Air

The end of the school term is fast approaching. We took time off from our massive to-do list for some well-needed mountain air.

Myself, James and Daisy the dog traveled from Carlisle into the Lake District. Driving past the mighty Blencathra. She is always a welcome sight, especially on such a glorious day.

We parked at a place called 'Underskiddaw'. It had very limited parking spaces, so if you are considering climbing Skiddaw, try parking nearby.

The first section of the hike is quite steep. We welcomed the sight of the paraglider's preparing to set off, it was a lovely distraction from what felt the mountainous climb ahead.

However, Daisy did NOT like them what so ever!

Halfway up and the views were breathtaking. So picturesque, it almost didn't look real.

Finally, at the top, our brows glistening and our tummy's rumbling we finally reached the summit.

The views were absolutely stunning. You could see both Derwent Water and Bassenthwaite Lake, a fantastic panoramic view. We ate our snacks whilst Daisy pestered other walkers for their crusts. Despite it being a sunny day, we grew cold quite quickly.

We began our descent back down to the car park. We were lucky enough to pass the paragliders gliding overhead as we wandered by Skiddaw Little Man (For those of you who are like me and have very limited knowledge of the Lake District, Skiddaw Little Man is the hill on the picture below).

We were so lucky with the weather, it was a glorious day. Whenever we go to the Lake District we are normally cursed with bad weather. It was nice to keep our waterproofs in our bags rather than on our bodies.

You can find the car park for Skiddaw here:
