Silvas Capitalis, Kielder Forest

Myself and my friends have had a few stressful weeks at work with progress reports, observations and the Christmas nativity! So we thought we'd de-stress with a scenic winter walk. About an hour and a half from Sunderland is Keilder Reservoir.

Now Keilder Reservoir is an absolutely vast stretch of land. We decided to have a walk through the forest. Around 2 miles from where we parked the car we reached a clearing with a giant head. The giant head is a little bit like a tree house as it has an upstairs. The piece of art is called Silvas Capitalis.

The place was really secluded and quiet. We brought along marshmallows so it was rude not to make a fire..

We probably were not allowed to do this (oops).

And a brew to wash them down...

wait for it to boil..

We also found a Geocache. I had no idea what it was. For those people who are city dwellers like myself, a Geocache is a little like Pokemon go. You walk around using the app to find the pots located literally everywhere. Inside the tub is tokens left by people, if you take something you must replace it.

I think I have fallen a little in love with Kielder Forest.
