Christmas Market & Ice skating

This year the christmas market came to Sunderland in Keel square. This is the first time Sunderland has had anything remotely exciting happen to consider venturing out in to frosty December for. Christmas market, ice staking, fair ground and mulled cider?! Yes please.

Our first port of call was the Merry Monk to try the mulled wine and cider. I opted for the mulled cider which was spiced with vanilla and cinnamon. Its a must have on a cold December evening.

We ate our hotdogs and our churros, drank are mulled cider then it was time to hit the rink!
But not before an obligatory photo in front of the christmas tree.
Some of us were better than others, but you can always use a helping hand.

Soon our feet were sore (should have wore thicker socks!) and our hands were numb so we decided we'd had enough and we would explore the rest of what the market had to offer.

Paella, crepes , burgers, fudge, german sausages and more there was so much to choose from in the little market.
We were planning on venturing across the road to the fair but sadly it started to rain! So with my double clotted fudge in hand we found a pub to take cover in. Obviously I chose to have a hot chocolate because I was designated driver! Sunderland's christmas market is a little gem.

Is there a local christmas market near you?
